Regular Season Round 4: Unicaja - Gran Canaria 89-76

Date: October 14, 2018
Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Gran Canaria (1-3) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Unicaja Malaga (3-1) 89-76 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Unicaja Malaga. Gran Canaria was better in third quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Unicaja Malaga forced 19 Gran Canaria turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of international point guard Jaime Fernandez (186-93) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) who added 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American-Senegalese point guard Clevin Hannah (179-87, college: Wichita St., agency: BeoBasket) responded with 12 points and 6 assists and Dominican Eulis Baez (201-82, college: W.Illinois) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Unicaja Malaga moved-up to third place, which they share with Baskonia and Tenerife. Loser Gran Canaria dropped to the fifteenth position with three games lost. Unicaja Malaga will face La ICL Manresa (#6) on the road in the next round. Gran Canaria will play against Andorra (#10) and hope to win that game.
