Regular Season Round 6: Shimane SM - Kanazawa Sam. 91-97

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Shimane Magic (3-3) against fifth ranked Kanazawa Sam. (2-4) on Sunday night. Host Shimane Magic was defeated by Kanazawa Sam. in a tough game in Shimane 91-97. Kanazawa Sam. forced 20 Shimane Magic turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. Kanazawa Sam. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St.) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. American power forward Denzel Bowles (208-89, college: JMU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Five Kanazawa Sam. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) who recorded a double-double by scoring 29 points and 16 rebounds and swingman Takuya Soma (181-91) added 22 points and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kanazawa Sam. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Yamagata and Tokyo HT. Loser Shimane Magic dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Fukushima and Tokyo Z. Kanazawa Sam. will meet at home higher ranked Sendai 89ers (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Shimane Magic will play against Kagawa FA in Takamatsu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
