Regular Season Round 6: Yamagata - Aomori Watts 95-93

Important game to mention about took place in Yamagata. Sixth ranked Yamagata (2-4) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Aomori Watts (1-5) 95-93 on Sunday evening. Yamagata made 25-of-33 charity shots (75.8 percent) during the game. Aomori Watts were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Yoshifumi Nakajima (176-90) notched 29 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (201-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) supported him with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Yamagata players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 38 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 6 assists by American forward Cullen Russo (206-94, college: Fresno St.) did not help to save the game for Aomori Watts. Lithuanian power forward Julius Jucikas (205-89, agency: Octagon Europe) added 25 points and 10 rebounds. Yamagata moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Kanazawa Sam. and Tokyo HT. Aomori Watts at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Ehime OV and Nishinomiya S.. Yamagata will play against league's leader Cyberdyne IR in Tsukuba in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Aomori Watts will play at home against Orange Vikings (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
