Regular Season Round 4: Martos - Multiopticas Baza 65-71

Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Multiopticas Baza (2-0) beat on the road bottom-ranked Martos (0-2) 71-65 on Sunday. Multiopticas Baza shot 26 for 38 from the free-throw line, while Martos only scored six points from the stripe. Strangely Martos outrebounded Multiopticas Baza 37-23 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Martos was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard David Garcia (180-93) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 7 assists and 4 steals and center Jorge Rodriguez (198-94) who added 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Multiopticas Baza players scored in double figures. At the losing side Sergio Melero (-95) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and David Melero (-91) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Multiopticas Baza keeps a position of Group D-A leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Martos still closes the standings with two games lost. Multiopticas Baza will face bottom-ranked Unicaja-Andalucia (#10) in Malaga in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Martos will play on the road against Cazorla and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
