Regular Season Round 4: Gipuzkoa - Tenerife 73-79 OT

Date: October 14, 2018
Bottom-ranked Gipuzkoa (0-4) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to fourth ranked CB Canarias (3-1) 79-73. It looked good early as Gipuzkoa took a 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then CB Canarias took control and eventually winning the game that evening in overtime by 6 points. 24 personal fouls committed by Gipuzkoa helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for American-Georgian guard Thaddus McFadden (188-87, college: Fairmont St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 4 assists. International forward Javier Beiran (200-87) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Garrett Nevels (188-92, college: Hawaii) replied with 19 points and 5 rebounds and Ukrainian forward Vyacheslav Bobrov (203-92) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Gipuzkoa. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. CB Canarias have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Baskonia and Unicaja. Gipuzkoa at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. CB Canarias' next round opponent will be Movil Estudiantes (#14) in Madrid which should be an easy win for them. Gipuzkoa will play on the road against Joventut (#12) in Badalona and hopes to get finally their first victory.
