Regular Season Round 3: Al-Ahli - Bahrain 105-54

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Manama: Al-Ahli (#6) and Al-Bahrain (#10). Al-Ahli (2-1) crushed visiting Al-Bahrain (0-3) by 51 points 105-54. Al-Ahli dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Al-Bahrain's 24. They outrebounded Al-Bahrain 42-31 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al-Ahli players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It was a good game for American-New Zealand forward Marcel Jones (203-85, college: Oregon St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Hesham Sarhan (-92) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Al-Ahli players scored in double figures. American forward Lester Ferguson (208-88, college: Robert Morris) answered with 20 points and 9 rebounds and Fadhel Abbas added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Al-Bahrain. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al-Ahli's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Manama to the arena Al-Ittihad.
