The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Espoo Team as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Espoo Team smashed 3rd ranked Helmi Basket at home 81-62. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 15-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-62. Espoo Team forced 22 Helmi Basket turnovers and outrebounded them 44-31 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Kamilah Jackson (181-92, college: Hawaii) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import forward Delaney Hodgins (184-96, college: E.Washington, agency: Interperformances) who added 13 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals during the contest. Four Espoo Team players scored in double figures. At the losing side international center Awak Kuier (194-1) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Lotta Vehka-Aho (165-0) scored 15 points. Helmi Basket's coach Pekka Salminen rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Helmi Basket at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with ViVe and Kouvot. Helmi Basket will play next round against strong Forssan Alku trying to get back on the winning streak. Espoo Team will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Peli-Karhut in Kotka.
