Regular Season Round 3: Panteras - Capitanes 82-94

Everything went according to plan when Capitanes (4-0) defeated Panteras (1-3) in Aguascalientes 94-82 on Thursday. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Panteras' 30. It was a good game for Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. The former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Capitanes players scored in double figures. American guard Hameed Ali (188-93, college: Texas A&M-CC) answered with 25 points and 6 assists and naturalized American forward Jesse Lopez (201-94, college: Sam Houston St.) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Panteras. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Capitanes will face Abejas (#6) in Guanajuato in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Panteras will play on the road against Libertadores in Queretaro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
