Regular Season Round 3: Santos - Huracanes 100-75

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Santos' (2-2) home victory over Huracanes (0-2) in San Luis Potosi 100-75 on Friday. Santos dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Huracanes' 24. It was a great shooting night for Santos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 71.4 percentage. It was a good game for American point guard Jaron Martin (178-94, college: Cal-Irvine) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 5 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). His fellow American import forward Lyonell Gaines (198-93, college: Morehead St.) contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Gaines is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Santos players scored in double figures. Santos' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) answered with 24 points and 5 assists and swingman Manuel Hernandez (193-91) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Huracanes. Santos will have a break next round. Huracanes will play on the road against Fuerza Regia (#3) in Monterrey and look forward to get finally their first victory.
