There was a surprise result in Alicante where tenth ranked Unicaja-Andalucia (1-2) won against 4th placed Multiopticas Baza (2-1) 88-73 on Saturday. They outrebounded Multiopticas Baza 43-31 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Dutch center Morgan Stilma (202-0) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Alessandro Scariolo (184-1) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Center Jorge Rodriguez (198-94) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and point guard David Garcia (180-93) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Unicaja-Andalucia left bottom position moving up to sixth place in Group D-A, which they share with Andujar and Almeria. Loser Multiopticas Baza dropped to the third position with one game lost. Unicaja-Andalucia will face higher ranked Cazorla (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Multiopticas Baza will play against the league's leader CAM E.Soler in Melilla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
