Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Alcobendas and 4th placed Estudiantes B had identical 3-1 record. This time Alcobendas used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Madrid 89-72 on Saturday night. Alcobendas dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Estudiantes B's 40. They outrebounded Estudiantes B 44-20 including a 27-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Roberto Morentin (204-81, college: Cent.Florida) who scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Gabriel Diaz-Morera (197-89) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Five Alcobendas players scored in double figures. Lithuanian guard Dovydas Giedraitis (193-0) produced 33 points (!!!) and naturalized South African swingman Alex Tamayo (199-0) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Estudiantes B's coach Javier Zamora rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Alcobendas (4-1) moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Real Madrid II and Quintanar. Loser Estudiantes B dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Alcobendas will face Rivas (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Estudiantes B will play against Lanzarote and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
