Regular Season Round 6: Gimle BBK - Baerum Basket 96-72

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Bergen. Top-ranked Gimle BBK faced 3rd ranked Baerum Basket. Host Gimle BBK (7-0) smashed guests from Bekkestua (5-3) 96-72. It looked good early as Baerum Basket took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gimle BBK had a 23-13 second period charge getting the lead and Baerum Basket was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-96. Gimle BBK made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Gimle BBK outrebounded Baerum Basket 43-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a good game for Serbian-Montenegrin center Milovan Savic (205-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. International guard Eivind Lamo (195-96) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Gimle BBK players scored in double figures. Gimle BBK's coach Audun Eskeland felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Stian Mjos (183-89) replied with 23 points and 6 assists and American guard Joshua Hart (194-90, college: Va Intermont) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Baerum Basket. Gimle BBK have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fyllingen BBK. Baerum Basket at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. Gimle BBK will play against Kongsberg (#4) at home in the next round. Baerum Basket will play against Tromso and hopes to get back on the winning track.
