There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked Gran Canaria (2-3) crushed higher ranked Andorra (2-3) in Las Palmas 106-80 on Saturday. The game without a history. Gran Canaria led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Andorra was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American-Senegalese point guard Clevin Hannah (179-87, college: Wichita St., agency: BeoBasket) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 5 assists. American-Cameroonian DJ Strawberry (196-85, college: Maryland) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Five Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Canadian-Jamaican point guard Dylan Ennis (187-91, college: Oregon, agency: BeoBasket) answered with 22 points and 6 rebounds and Italian guard Michele Vitali (196-91) added 18 points in the effort for Andorra. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gran Canaria moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 7 other teams including defeated Andorra. Andorra lost their third game in a row. Gran Canaria will face bottom-ranked Gipuzkoa (#18) in San Sebastian in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
