Regular Season Round 4: Kagoshima - Saitama Bron. 85-86

Important game to mention about took place in Renova. Third ranked Saitama Broncos (4-4) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 10th ranked Kagoshima (1-5) 86-85 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The winners were led by American Darnell Martin (198-91, college: CS Dominguez H.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 25 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized American point guard Samuel Sawaji (186-90) supported him with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 29 points and 12 rebounds by American center Antone Warren (208, college: Antelope Valley CC) did not help to save the game for Kagoshima. His fellow American import forward Shelton Boykin (198, college: Angelo St.) added 28 points for lost side. Kagoshima's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Saitama Broncos have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 4-4 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Koshigaya A. Kagoshima lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. Saitama Broncos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kagoshima will play at home against Tokyo Cinq R. (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
