Regular Season Round 1: Hebei - Sichuan 75-60

Hebei used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Chengdu 75-60 on Saturday night. Hebei dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Blue Whales' 36. It was a very good performance for the former international guard Siyue Qiu (177-91) who helped to win the game recording 23 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international XueYa Ma (190-93) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Belarusian center Yelena Levchenko (196-83, college: W.Virginia) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and forward Yang Jia (191-87) added 14 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Blue Whales. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hebei will face Red Wolves (#7) in Weinan in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Blue Whales will play at home against Henan Phoenix and hope to win that game.
