Regular Season Round 6: Toyota Alvark - Kawasaki BT 89-67

The biggest surprise took place in Tokyo where host Toyota Alvark (6-1) crushed league's leader Toshiba Thunders (4-3) 89-67 on Saturday evening. Toyota Alvark looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds and international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Ryukyu GK and Tochigi Brex. Toshiba Thunders at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Toyama Grouses. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Toyota Alvark will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa.
