Regular Season Round 5: Boet - Cornella 66-77

There was an upset when 4th placed Mataro Parc Boet (3-2) was defeated at home by thirteenth ranked Cornella (1-4) 77-66 on Saturday. Cornella outrebounded Mataro Parc Boet 53-31 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mataro Parc Boet was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Nestor Zamora (180-84) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Naturalized Andorra guard Roger Lliteras (194-96) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four Cornella players scored in double figures. American Nicholas Moore (198-91, college: Nyack) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and Dutch swingman Raidell De-Pree (198-97, college: Kankakee CC) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cornella left bottom position moving up to eleventh place in Group C-A, which they share with Salt. Loser Mataro Parc Boet dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Cornella will face higher ranked Salou (#9) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mataro Parc Boet will play against Valls Nutrion (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
