Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Gniezno and 9th ranked Ogniwo Szczecin had identical 1-2 record. But Ogniwo Szczecin was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Gniezno 67-63 on Saturday night. Gniezno forced 25 Ogniwo Szczecin turnovers. Strangely Ogniwo Szczecin outrebounded Gniezno 48-34 including 37 on the defensive glass. Michal Szydlowski (197-87) fired 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Marek Sobkowiak (200-86) chipped in 6 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Marcin Zarzeczny (195-87) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and center Karol Pytys (202-85) added 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Gniezno (2-2) moved-up to fifth place in Group A, which they share with Arka II and Notec Inowr. Newly promoted Ogniwo Szczecin dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Gniezno will face Notec Inowr. (#7) in Inowroclaw in the next round. Ogniwo Szczecin will play at home against the league's leader Miedzychod and hope to win that game.
