Regular Season Round 3: Varese Robur - Montecatini 86-69

There was a surprise result when Varese Robur (1-1) won against at home Montecatiniterme (1-2) 86-69 on Saturday. It was a good game for forward Marco Planezio (198-91, agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Jacopo Mercante (197-90) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Five Varese Robur players scored in double figures. Naturalized Argentinian swingman Franco Migliori (200-82) answered with 22 points (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and point guard Guido Meini (186-79) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Montecatiniterme. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Varese Robur will face Omnia Basket (#16) in Pavia in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Montecatiniterme will play at home against Alba (#4) and hope to win that game.
