Regular Season Round 6: Chiba Jets - Niigata Albirex 98-90

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Chiba Jets and second-best Niigata Albirex had identical 4-2 record. This time Chiba Jets used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Niigata 98-90 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Chiba Jets looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was naturalized American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) who scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. Chiba Jets' coach Atsushi Ono used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) who recorded 25 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and his fellow American import power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) added 27 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Chiba Jets have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Nagoya DD and Toyama Grouses. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the second place with three games lost. Chiba Jets will face again Niigata Albirex (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
