Regular Season Round 4: Faenza - Umbertide 73-58

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Umbertide (2-2) lost on the road to top-ranked Faenza (3-0) 73-58 on Saturday. Faenza dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Umbertide's 32. They outrebounded Umbertide 42-30 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Umbertide was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for Lithuanian center Ieva Preskienyte (193-93, agency: ProDep Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Lucia Morsiani (186-92) contributed with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Faenza's coach Cristina Bassi used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Forward Federica Giudice (180-0) replied with 12 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Federica Pompei (162-98) added 14 points in the effort for Umbertide. Faenza maintains fourth position in A2 with 3-0 record. Loser Umbertide dropped to the ninth place with two games lost. Faenza will face higher ranked Spezzina (#3) in La Spezia in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Umbertide will play at home against Orvieto (#14) and hope to win that game.
