Regular Season Round 5: Cazorla - Martos 91-61

Date: October 20, 2018
Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Martos (0-3) was outplayed on the road by sixth ranked Cazorla (2-1) 91-61 on Saturday. Cazorla forced 24 Martos turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Daniel Saunders (196-94, college: Lenoir CC) who scored 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American forward Dante Thompson (201, college: Goldey-Beacom) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Saunders is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Cazorla players scored in double figures. Senegalese center Mbagne Diop (209-92) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and Argentinian point guard Gaston Zalazar (-96) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cazorla moved-up to third place in Group D-A, which they share with Multiopticas Baza and Coin. Newly promoted Martos still closes the standings with three games lost. Cazorla will face Unicaja-Andalucia (#8) in Malaga in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Martos will play at home against the league's second-placed Marbella and hopes to get finally their first victory.
