Regular Season Round 6: Vitre - RAC Basket 82-71

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Rueil (2-4) lost on the road to seventh ranked Vitre (4-2) 82-71 on Saturday. Vitre dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Rueil's 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for Vincentian-Canadian forward Lien Phillip (203-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Antoine Belkessa (186-88) contributed with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Senegalese guard Lamine Sambe (188-89) replied with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Guillaume Daurces (201-95) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Rueil. Rueil's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vitre moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Rueil dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Vitre will face league's leader Vendee Challans on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rueil will play against La Rochelle (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
