Regular Season Round 7: Kagawa FA - Shimane SM 59-88

There was no surprise in Takamatsu where 5th ranked Kagawa FA (1-5) was crushed by third ranked Shimane Magic (4-3) 88-59 on Saturday. Shimane Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Kagawa FA's 28. They outrebounded Kagawa FA 49-25 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shimane Magic looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) fired 9 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Kimitake Sato (186-84) chipped in 16 points. Four Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. Shimane Magic's coach Yukinori Suzuki felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Keitaro Kimura (176-93) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Shimane Magic maintains third place with 4-3 record having just three points less than leader Cyberdyne IR, which they share with Tokyo Z. Kagawa FA lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Shimane Magic will have a break next round. Kagawa FA will play again at home against Shimane Magic (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
