Regular Season Round 8: Nishinomiya S. - Toyotsu FE 96-102

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Toyotsu FE (6-2) beat 6th ranked Nishinomiya S. (1-7) in Hyogo 102-96 on Sunday. Toyotsu FE made 29-of-35 free shots (82.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Nishinomiya S. was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: Washington St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import center Garrett Stutz (214-90, college: Wichita St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Swingman Naoki Tani (193-88) replied with 26 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists in the effort for Nishinomiya S.Four Nishinomiya S. players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyotsu FE keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Sendai 89ers and Kumamoto V. Nishinomiya S. lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with seven games lost. Toyotsu FE will face Kanazawa Sam. (#4) in Ishikawa in the next round. Nishinomiya S. will play on the road against Tokyo Z and hope to win that game.
