Regular Season Round 5: Zaragoza - Fuenlabrada 77-80
Date: October 21, 2018
A very interesting game took place in Zaragoza. It ended with only three-point home defeat of higher ranked Zaragoza (2-3) to seventeenth ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (2-3) 80-77 in the fight for the eighth place. It looked good early as Zaragoza took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Baloncesto Fuenlabrada had a 22-13 second period charge getting the lead and Zaragoza was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-80. 24 personal fouls committed by Zaragoza helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Marc Garcia (198-96) who scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Mexican guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming) chipped in 17 points. The former international forward Nacho Martin (202-83) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds and FYR Macedonian-American point guard Bo McCalebb (178-85, college: New Orleans) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Four Zaragoza players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 7 other teams including defeated Zaragoza. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's next round opponent will be Valencia Basket (#13) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game.
