Regular Season Round 8: Kanazawa Sam. - Sendai 89ers 66-76

An interesting game for Sendai 89ers (6-2) which played road game in Ishikawa against 4th ranked Kanazawa Sam. (2-6). Second ranked Sendai 89ers managed to get a 10-point victory 76-66. Sendai 89ers made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by American forward Tyler Harris (208-93, college: Auburn) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) supported him with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists by Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St.) did not help to save the game for Kanazawa Sam.. American power forward Denzel Bowles (208-89, college: JMU) added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Four Kanazawa Sam. players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sendai 89ers keep a position of league leader, which they share with Toyotsu FE and Kumamoto V. Loser Kanazawa Sam. keeps the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Sendai 89ers will meet at home Aomori Watts (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Kanazawa Sam. will play against the league's second-placed Toyotsu FE in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
