Regular Season Round 7: SeaHorses - Hitachi SR 76-71

Everything could happen in Kariya at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Aishin Sea Horses and 6th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers had identical 1-5 record. This time Aishin Sea Horses used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Tokyo 76-71 on Sunday night. Aishin Sea Horses made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Aishin Sea Horses outrebounded Hitachi Sunrockers 37-23 including 30 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward James Southerland (203-90, college: Syracuse) contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) answered with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) added 15 points in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aishin Sea Horses (2-5) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Shiga L-Stars and Yokohama BC. Hitachi Sunrockers lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face league's leader Toyama Grouses at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hitachi Sunrockers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Toyota Alvark.
