Regular Season Round 3: Olimpia Matera - Valmontone 71-69

A very interesting game took place in Matera. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of Valmontone (1-1) to Olimpia Matera (3-0) 71-69 on Sunday evening. Strangely Valmontone outrebounded Olimpia Matera 39-26 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Maurizio Del Testa (187-89) who scored 21 points and 4 steals. Point guard Daniele Merletto (175-93) chipped in 11 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Luca Bisconti (208-82, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and guard Daniele Grilli (190-87) added 24 points respectively. Valmontone's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Olimpia Matera's next round opponent will be Salerno (#6) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Valmontone will play against Palestrina and hope to win that game.
