Regular Season Round 2: Olimpia - Victoria 98-56

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Grodno: Olimpia (#4) and Victoria (#7). Olimpia (2-0) smashed visiting Victoria (0-2) by 42 points 98-56. The game without a history. Olimpia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Victoria to just 7 points in first quarter. Olimpia dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Victoria's 26 and made 27-of-35 charity shots (77.1 percent) during the game. Olimpia forced 21 Victoria turnovers and outrebounded them 45-32 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Victoria's players. Forward Nadzeya Nadzezhka (180-87) notched 15 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international Darya Mahalias (180-93) supported her with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Olimpia players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by forward Yana Goliakova (182-1) did not help to save the game for Victoria. Point guard Yuliya Vasilevich (165-1) added 14 points for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olimpia's next round opponent will be Gorizont II (#6) in Minsk. Victoria will play on the road against Tsmoki-Minsk and hope to win that game.
