Regular Season Round 3: Sao Jose - Minas 62-71

There was a minor upset when Sao Jose (1-2) was defeated at home by Minas (1-1) 71-62. They made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Sao Jose was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international point guard George-Yeye Torres (188-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 assists. Forward Wesley Ferreira (201-95) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Minas players scored in double figures. Douglas Nunes (208-87) answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Vinicius Oliveira (200-90) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Sao Jose. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Minas will play against Joinville (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sao Jose will have a break next round.
