Regular Season Round 9: Shinshu BW - Tokyo HT 85-84

Fifth-ranked Tokyo HT (2-7) gave a tough game to leader Shinshu BW (9-0) in Nagano on Wednesday. Shinshu BW managed to secure only one-point victory 85-84. However their fans expected much easier game. Shinshu BW looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Tokyo HT's players. The best player for the winners was American center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) who scored 31 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized American guard Louis Kurihara (188, college: Whittier) chipped in 14 points. Shinshu BW's coach Michael Katsuhisa used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman LeBryan Nash (201-92, college: Oklahoma St.) who recorded 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) added 21 points and 16 rebounds respectively. Four Tokyo HT players scored in double figures. Shinshu BW have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-0 record. Tokyo HT lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Shinshu BW will meet at home league's second-placed Toyotsu FE in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tokyo HT will play against the league's leader Sendai 89ers and hope to secure a win.
