Regular Season Round 9: Toyotsu FE - Kanazawa Sam. 87-85

Fourth-ranked Kanazawa Sam. (2-7) gave a tough game to second ranked Toyotsu FE (7-2) in Nagoya. Toyotsu FE managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected easier game. Toyotsu FE players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a good game for American center Garrett Stutz (214-90, college: Wichita St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Edward Yamamoto (173-86) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. Toyotsu FE's coach Ryuji Watanabe allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American power forward Denzel Bowles (208-89, college: JMU) answered with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St.) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Kanazawa Sam.The victory was the third consecutive win for Toyotsu FE. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Sendai 89ers and Kumamoto V. Kanazawa Sam. lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth place with seven games lost. Toyotsu FE's next round opponent will be league's leader Shinshu BW in Nagano and it will be for sure the game of the week.
