Regular Season Round 5: Lucenec - Nova Ves 76-89

Nova Ves' fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Lucenec, where they defeated Lucenec (0-5) 89-76. They outrebounded Lucenec 39-22 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Eric Nottage (188-94, college: FIU, agency: Court Side) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Nottage is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Nova Ves players scored in double figures. Nova Ves' coach Giorgos Bitzanis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Johnny Griffin (196-95, college: Loyola, LA) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Duke Shelton (208-95, college: Tampa) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Nova Ves maintains eighth place with 1-3 record. It was Lucenec's fifth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost. Nova Ves' next round opponent will be higher ranked Rieker KN (#7) in Komarno and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lucenec will play on the road against Zilina and hopes to get finally their first victory.
