Regular Season Round 8: SeaHorses - Toyama Grouses 94-71

Round 8 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Toyama Grouses (5-3). They were crushed by fourth ranked Aishin Sea Horses (3-5) 94-71 on Wednesday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Toyama Grouses. Aishin Sea Horses dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Toyama Grouses' 48. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward James Southerland (203-90, college: Syracuse) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who added 9 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Aishin Sea Horses' coach Kimikazu Suzuki felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and international forward Naoki Uto (188-91) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Aishin Sea Horses have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 3-5 record, which they share with Hokkaido L. and Akita NH. Toyama Grouses at the other side still keep top place with three games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Tochigi Brex who have the same record. Toyama Grouses will play next round against strong Akita Happinets trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Aishin Sea Horses will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
