Regular Season Round 5: Ogniwo Szczecin - Miedzychod 72-66

First defeat of league's leader Miedzychod (4-1) against ninth ranked Ogniwo Szczecin (2-3) 72-66 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Miedzychod. Ogniwo Szczecin dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Miedzychod's 26. They outrebounded Miedzychod 48-25 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Karol Pytys (202-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Karol Nowacki (194-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Swingman Jakub Nowak (188-89) answered with 27 points and point guard Mateusz Rutkowski (178-93) added 13 points in the effort for Miedzychod. Miedzychod's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ogniwo Szczecin moved-up to eighth place in Group A, which they share with Gniezno. Miedzychod at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Zubry. Miedzychod will play next round against Notec Inowr. trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Ogniwo Szczecin will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked AZS UMK Torun on the road.
