Regular Season Round 4: A.Kraukla VEF - Gulbenes Buki 57-96

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Riga: Gulbenes Buki (#1) and A.Kraukla VEF (#6). A.Kraukla VEF was smashed at home by 39 points 57-96 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. Gulbenes Buki led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gulbenes Buki shot 20 for 27 from the free-throw line, while A.Kraukla VEF only scored four points from the stripe. Gulbenes Buki forced 24 A.Kraukla VEF turnovers and outrebounded them 40-24 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by A.Kraukla VEF's players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Martins Vinauds (195-91) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Janis Dilevka (199-88) who added 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Gulbenes Buki players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Juris Jonins (194-1) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Martins Krumins (192-1) scored 13 points and 8 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gulbenes Buki (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Newly promoted A.Kraukla VEF still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams.
