There was no surprise in Manama where 8th ranked Al-Najma (1-3) was defeated by top-ranked Al-Muharraq (4-0) 90-75 on Wednesday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Al-Muharraq made 7 blocks. Ahmed Aldurazi fired 34 points (!!!) and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Sean Williams (208-86, college: Boston Coll.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks. American Kevin Rogers (206-86, college: Baylor) produced a double-double by scoring 30 points and 14 rebounds and international Mohamed Buallay (-95) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al-Muharraq have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Al-Manama. Loser Al-Najma dropped to the tenth place with three games lost. Al-Muharraq will face Al-Hala (#6) in Muharraq in the next round where they are favorite. Al-Najma will play on the road against Al-Ahli (#4) in Manama and hope to win that game.
