Regular Season Round 9: Sendai 89ers - Aomori Watts 92-64

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Sendai 89ers (7-2) outscored at home 6th ranked Aomori Watts (2-7) 92-64 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Aomori Watts 37-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Aomori Watts' players. American forward Tyler Harris (208-93, college: Auburn) stepped up and scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Sendai 89ers' coach Dai Oketani felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was point guard Taichi Sano (177-93) with 22 points and point guard Keisuke Aita (182-95) scored 14 points and 4 assists. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sendai 89ers. They maintain first place with 7-2 record, which they share with Toyotsu FE and Kumamoto V. Loser Aomori Watts dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Sendai 89ers will face Tokyo HT (#5) on the road in the next round. Aomori Watts will play against the league's second-placed Kumamoto V. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
