There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Reggio Emilia (1-4) defeated on the road higher ranked Padova (2-3) 79-71 on Thursday. Reggio Emilia shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Alessandro Maccaferri (177-95) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 6 assists and naturalized Dominican guard Jean-Carlos Canelo (192-89, agency: Interperformances) who added 16 points during the contest. Four Reggio Emilia players scored in double figures. Reggio Emilia's coach Riccardo Eliantonio used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side swingman Michele Ferrari (195-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Andrea Piazza (189-89) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Reggio Emilia left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place in B, which they share with Crema. Loser Padova dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Reggio Emilia will face higher ranked Tessilform Bernareggio (#9) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
