Everything could happen in Sao Paulo at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Vivo/Franca and 5th ranked Vasco Da G. had identical 2-1 record. This time Vivo/Franca used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Rio de Janeiro 101-75 on Thursday night. Vivo/Franca shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 51.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Vasco Da G.'s players. It was a very good performance for American David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) who helped to win the game recording 28 points. The former international Lucas Cipolini (206-86, college: BYU-Hawaii) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Germerson Barbosa (202-93) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Nick Okorie (185-88, college: Texas Tech) added 17 points and 4 steals in the effort for Vasco Da G.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vivo/Franca (3-1) moved-up to third place, which they share with Paulistano and Mogi. Loser Vasco Da G. dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. Vivo/Franca will face SKY/Basquete (#13) in Aldeota in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vasco Da G. will play on the road against Minas (#6) in Belo Horizonte and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
