Regular Season Round 4: Salerno - Olimpia Matera 88-80

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Olimpia Matera (4-1) was defeated on the road by third ranked Salerno (4-1) 88-80 on Thursday. Salerno dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Olimpia Matera's 24 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Olimpia Matera 33-21 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olimpia Matera was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Gianmarco Leggio (202-94) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds and Massimiliano Sanna (195-88) who added 21 points during the contest. At the losing side naturalized Argentinian power forward Enzo Damian Cena (200-92) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Giacomo Sereni (200-84) scored 18 points. Four Salerno and five Olimpia Matera players scored in double figures. Salerno moved-up to second place in B, which they share with Vicenza. Salerno will face Palestrina (#10) in Roma in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Olimpia Matera will play at home against Catania Alfa (#12) and hope to win that game.
