Regular Season Round 7: Chalons-Reims - Le Portel 65-63

Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Chalons-Reims (4-3) edged at home 13th ranked Le Portel (2-5) 65-63 on Friday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Chalons-Reims forced 20 Le Portel turnovers. It was a great evening for power forward Louis Cassier (203-97) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Thomas Pottier (196-99) helped adding 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side center Vladimir Ilic (203-99) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and forward Damien Nseke-Ebele (196-0) scored 5 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Chalons-Reims moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Chalon and Boulazac. Loser Le Portel keeps the thirteenth position with five games lost. Chalons-Reims will face Antibes (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Le Portel will play against Chalon and hope to win that game.
