There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Rueil (3-4) defeated on the road 8th ranked La Rochelle (3-4) 96-78 on Friday. Rueil made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 La Rochelle turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for American center Rashid Gaston (206-94, college: Norfolk St., agency: Inception Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Masse Doumbe (203-87, college: Keiser) helped adding 21 points and 4 assists. At the losing side American swingman Chris McEachin (198-89, college: Norfolk St.) responded with 22 points and Pierre Cellerier (191-97) scored 14 points. La Rochelle's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Rueil moved-up to eighth place in Group B, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated La Rochelle. Rueil will face higher ranked Lorient (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
