Regular Season Round 3: COR-Borisfen - Grodno-93 85-101

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of COR-Borisfen (3-1) in Mogilev on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Grodno-93 (4-0) 101-85. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Grodno-93 dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to COR-Borisfen's 36 and made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded COR-Borisfen 41-21 including a 36-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Grodno-93 looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by COR-Borisfen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for guard Ilya Sharipov (198-91) who led his team to a victory with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Ukrainian forward Ivan Kalyaev (200-87) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Grodno-93 players scored in double figures. Guard Evgeniy Ivanov (198-84) answered with 20 points and the former international guard Artem Malkov (190-88) added 20 points in the effort for COR-Borisfen. COR-Borisfen's coach Andrei Krivonos rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Grodno-93 is looking forward to face RCOP Tsmoki (#10) in Minsk in the next round and are hoping to win another game. COR-Borisfen will play on the road against Rubon (#6) in Vitebsk and is hoping to win this game.
