Regular Season Round 9: Ryukyu GK - Kawasaki BT 72-75

Top ranked Ryukyu GK (8-2) recorded its second loss in Okinawa on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Toshiba Thunders (5-5) 75-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ryukyu GK. The best player for the winners was international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who scored 28 points and 9 rebounds. The former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: Arizona St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import forward Josh Scott (208-93, college: Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders maintains third place with 5-5 record having just two points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Ryukyu GK at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
