There was a minor upset in Veneto where 10th ranked Ponzano (2-3) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Marghera (2-3) 46-37 on Saturday. Marghera forced 20 Ponzano turnovers. Guard Sara Toffolo (184-0) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 18 rebounds for the winners and center Giulia Vanin (186-95, agency: SPORTlab Agency) chipped in 6 points and 7 rebounds. Lucrezia Coser (-98) responded with 7 points and 7 rebounds and forward Giulia Brotto (182-91) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Ponzano's coach Maurizio Sottana rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Marghera moved-up to eleventh place in A2. Marghera will face San Martino (#12) in San Martino di L in the next round. Ponzano will play on the road against Moncalieri and will have a slim chance for a victory.
