Regular Season Round 4: Kauhajoki - Ura Basket 92-80

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Ura Basket (1-4) was defeated on the road by second ranked Kauhajoki (4-1) 92-80. The game was mostly controlled by Kauhajoki. Ura Basket was better in third quarter 28-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kauhajoki dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Ura Basket's 32. They outrebounded Ura Basket 42-27 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ura Basket was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American Durrell Summers (196-89, college: Michigan St.) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 5 rebounds. American-Albanian forward Mike Moser (203-90, college: Oregon) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Fiifi Aidoo (187-96, college: Grand Canyon) replied with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Senegalese-American power forward Malik Dime (206-92, college: Washington) added 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Ura Basket. Four Kauhajoki and five Ura Basket players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains second position with 4-1 record behind leader Vilpas. Newly promoted Ura Basket dropped to the bottom place with four games lost. Kauhajoki will play against Lapuan Korikobrat (#5) on the road in the next round. Ura Basket will play against BC Nokia (#4) to get more than just one victory in their record.
