Regular Season Round 7: Strasbourg - Gravelines 90-84

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked SIG Strasbourg (4-3) beat at home higher ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (4-3) 90-84 on Saturday. SIG Strasbourg made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. SIG Strasbourg outrebounded Gravelines-Dunkerque 41-17 including a 27-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gravelines-Dunkerque was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Mardy Collins (196-84, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Belgian guard Quentin Serron (190-90) helped adding 17 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four SIG Strasbourg players scored in double figures. SIG Strasbourg's coach Vincent Collet used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Dominican-American point guard Edgar Sosa (190-88, college: Louisville) responded with 19 points and the former international center Alain Koffi (207-83, agency: BeoBasket) scored 17 points (made all of his seven free throws). SIG Strasbourg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Gravelines-Dunkerque. SIG Strasbourg will face Le Mans (#4) on the road in the next round. Gravelines-Dunkerque will play against Cholet Basket and hope to win that game.
