Regular Season Round 5: Gijon - Estela 61-65

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Gijon (1-4) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Estela (3-2) 65-61 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Chadian center Placide Nakidjim (205-94) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. American-Jamaican forward Lance Kearse (198-89, college: Eckerd) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Four Estela players scored in double figures. American guard Martyce Kimbrough (185-96, college: Findlay, OH, agency: Duran International) produced 14 points and 6 rebounds and Canadian forward Shane Osayande (198-93, college: Saskatchewan, agency: Interperformances) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Estela moved-up to fourth place in Silver. Gijon at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the twelfth position with four games lost. Estela will face Cocinas.com (#6) in Logrono in the next round. Gijon will play on the road against Zornotza (#7) in Amorebieta-Echano and hope to win that game.
